The rules of the Pit

You are in the Pit, the open board at chaosmagick.com. Chaotes post takes, argue them, call each other out and settle it in flytes. Methods get picked apart. Downvotes are public. A bad take gets told it is a bad take, in front of everyone.

Contentious subjects are open here, and the list is further down. Nobody will soften a reply for you, and nobody is checking whether a thread hurt your feelings. If that sounds bad, this is not your room, and that is fine; plenty of gentler boards exist. If you are still reading, the rules are short and the Wardens enforce them.

The rules

1. Adults only. You must be 18 or older to be here. Accounts that turn out to belong to someone younger are banned.
2. Nothing sexual involving minors. No sexual content involving minors, in any form: text, images, links, fiction or jokes. It comes down and the account is banned on the first offence.
3. Argue the take, not their life. Tear a post apart as hard as you like. Leave the person's job, family, health and real name out of it.
4. No doxxing. Never post anyone's real name, address, workplace, phone number, photos or other private details they have not put here themselves. Being findable somewhere else does not make it fair game here.
5. No threats. No threats against anyone, and no calls for anyone to be hurt. The "somebody should" kind counts.
6. A block ends it. Once someone blocks you, leave them alone. Following them into other threads, other lodges or off the board is harassment, and it gets you banned.
7. No impersonation. Do not pose as a real person, another member or the staff. Parody is fine when nobody could mistake it for the real thing.
8. Nothing illegal. Do not post anything illegal or use the board to arrange it. Drugs are open for discussion; selling them, sourcing them and trading dosing advice are not.
9. No spam, no selling. Do not sell readings, services or products unless someone asked. The same post dropped into thread after thread is spam and gets deleted.
10. Flag real problems. Flags go to the Wardens. Flagging a take because you lost the argument wastes their time, and they keep track.

Enforcement

Wardens and Magi can hide any post and ban any account. Hit flag on a post and it goes to the Wardens. The flag count shows on the post and the author is told one landed, but nobody is told who threw it. A flag from inside a secret lodge goes to the desk, and anyone can reach the desk directly from the contact page. Block whoever you like. The person you block can see that you did.

If a practice starts making your sleep or your mood worse, stop, and talk to a person. You do not need anyone on this board to sign off on that.
