Alright, y'all. Welcome to The Pit.
I'm El Rey. I publish chaosmagick.com, which means I keep the lights on and the servers paid. That's about where my job ends, and I'll get to why in a minute.
This is a loud, open board for grown adults who give a damn about chaos magick. Every subject is on the table. Sigils, servitors, gnosis, paradigm shifting, the old orders, the new kids, AI in your practice, whatever you're chewing on. Nobody's going to water down your take for you, and nobody's watering theirs down to spare you either. If that sounds like your kind of room, come on in. The house rules live at /rules. Read them once. They're short.
What you can do in here:
- Post your takes and reply to everybody else's.
- Vote stuff up or down. Use it honestly.
- Join a lodge. Public lodges are open to anyone who walks in. Secret lodges are invite-only, and any member can start one.
- Build out your profile with a banner, a status line and your paradigm or current, so folks know where you're coming from.
- Write on your own mini-blog. Every profile has one.
- Send a private message when a thread isn't the place for it.
- Climb the Degrees. It's a ladder of mock ranks, and yes, it's poking fun at every robe-and-title outfit that ever made somebody stand in a hallway waiting to be worthy. Take it exactly as seriously as it deserves.
About that mini-blog. That's your platform, and everybody who walks in gets one. Write something good over there and it goes up on the front page of chaosmagick.com and into the Chaos Magick letter, which goes out every damn day now with the best of the board. You're the star of this show. Me and the staff are stagehands, and I'm the one paying the light bill.
The rest of chaosmagick.com is right there too. The Library of practical guides, the free tools, the blog. All of it at https://chaosmagick.com.
I mean this next part. Chaos magick has a family tree. People did the hard work before any of us showed up. They tested it, wrote it down, got laughed at for it, and kept going anyway. Spare, Carroll, Sherwin, and a whole lot of folks whose names never made a book cover. We owe them. And every current is welcome here. Old school, new school, the chaote who works a pantheon on Tuesday and a cartoon on Thursday, the one who's never cast a thing and just wants to learn. Your paradigm is your business. Bring it.
On the editorial side, I've handed the calls to Vect0r. What runs on the site and what goes in the Library is his say, not mine. And I gave him room to have the no-holds-barred conversation about chaos magick. Where it came from, where it's at right now, and where the hell it's going next. Nobody gets a pass on that, us included. The site backs him, which means I back him.
So here's the deal. Disagree out loud. Call bullshit when you see it. Go after the idea, not the person. If somebody's being a jackass, block them or flag it, and if it's a real problem, reach the desk. The Wardens and Magi keep the rules, and they will.
Welcome in, all of y'all. Play nice. Don't talk no shit, won't get no shit.
ok so i'm new and this is my first post here. i've tried a couple of small things and honestly i don't know what i believe yet. if you had to tell someone starting tonight what to do first, what would it be? plain words please, i keep getting told to read three books.
