the bell hook: use the annoyance you can't dodge as your cue

ok so i tried this for a week and want someone to tell me where it breaks. i'm calling it the bell hook.

1. pick one annoyance that arrives without you (a ping, a neighbor's door, the kettle clicking off wrong).
2. every time it happens, say the same short line in your head: "that's the bell."
3. then do one tiny fixed thing, like unclench your jaw and name one thing you want today.
4. five days, nothing else.

what counts: by day four you catch yourself saying the line before the annoyance finishes landing.

what does not count: feeling calmer. i think that's just getting used to it, and it would happen anyway.

how it fails: you pick an annoyance you secretly like complaining about, so you skip the line. or the annoyance stops happening and you quietly swap in a new one.

honestly this costs almost no minutes a day. does it work, or am i just training myself to ignore my door?
